I love taking photos, whether they turn out good or not so each year I’ve tried to jump onto some sort of photo a day challenge like the project365. I have always failed! In March I ran across @fatmumslim’s monthly photo challenge. Committing to a monthly challenge seemed much more attractive {not to mention doable} than forcing myself to do a year one. So far, I have loved this monthly photo taking event! No, I didn’t end up taking a photo every single day in March. To be honest, I participated in about half. BUT, I had a ton of fun while I did it! Instead of worrying about what I was going to take a photo of that day, I just checked what the day’s challenge was and if I happened to find a chance to snap a shot of the day’s prompt, I did. No stress, no worry — Just Fun!
To make participation super simple, fatmumslim even creates a pretty graphic each month that you can refer back to for the daily photo prompt.
I love this because I am a visual person, in order to remember something, I need to see it. Last month, I started out by using the graphic as my desktop background. It worked well for about a day but then I was bored with it. I though — why not create a photo collage using the daily prompt graphic as the center? Using my favorite free photo editing software, Photoscape, I created a collage that reminded me of the month and added photos of my family. I did the same this month and am loving my new spring desktop background! It’s pretty, makes me smile and reminds me to take that photo every day!
The #photoadayApril event is easy to join in on — you can participate by visiting Fat Mum Slim’s blog, then start sharing your photos via Facebook, your blog, Twitter, Pinterest, Flickr or Instagram! Pick a favorite and get started :). If you’re joining in this month, I would love to check your photos out! Leave me the link to where you’re sharing your daily photos so I can visit!
I am a viewer. I just love watching pictures nor a photographer. But I want to learn.
It’s been fun seeing the photo you’ve come up with. Even getting through half is great dedication! Maybe one day I’ll join you – I have really been wanting to improve my photography skills.
Oh I might this month! Just got my iPhone working again. It’s very inspirational.
