I’m playing along with a fun blog carnival from MomDot.com. Here are five quick things you would learn about me if you walked through my house… besides the fact that the house is a mess!
Number One: My daughter likes to start crafts and projects then leave them all over the living room and coffee table. This is seriously still on the floor from this morning…. unfinished. She used half a roll of masking tape to tape it together.
Number Two: I have books EVERYWHERE. This is the wall to floor bookcase in our bedroom, it is cram-packed full of books. Hubby has started putting his archery stuff in front of my bookcase. I’m not sure if he thinks I will stop adding books if I can’t get to the case or what? The second shelf is packed full of my Dad’s old science fiction books — you can’t see them, they’re in a row behind the ones you see. You don’t want to see my nightstand!
Number Three: I LOVE Tea and coffee. I have a cupboard dedicated to my tea collecting habit, it’s much deeper than it looks and I must have 20 different varieties in there! Peppermint and Chai are my favorites. Our counter holds two coffeepots and there is a tea kettle on my stove!
Number Four: We like old stuff. This old hutch in our bedroom has a messy assortment of “things”. There is my Grandpa’s old beer stein, Chris’s dad’s police badge, some old matchbox cars, a giant Urkle pin (doesn’t everyone have one of those?), old buttons, an old pair of spectacles that Chris found in a customer’s wall while remodeling, old postcards, photographs and miscellaneous “stuff”.
Number Five: Lastly, you would find out that amidst all of these collections, an “Old Rooster and a (not-so) Young Chick Live Here”!
Check out what you can learn about the other blog carnival participants on MomDot’s Linky!
I love your messy things hutch! That is a ton of fun!!
trisha
I love your “old stuff” collection!! I have an “old stuff” collection, but it’s in a box because I don’t have a curio cabinet to store that stuff in.
Aww cute! Love all the collections!
I am a hoarder of stuff by nature, but have forced myself over the years to toss stuff out. I LOVE your china!
Thanks Karen! I love it too but I’m scared to use it because I don’t want to break it! Silly, right? I need to go on a major cleaning purge and clear out all this clutter one of these days!
that’s a LOT of books!!
We also got the 2 coffee pots and a kettle.
I love that hutch! All of that eclectic beauty in one place is a wonderful thing. And, I’m sort of jealous of the giant Urkel pin.
hmmm, eclectic beauty… I like it! Sounds better than extremely cluttered :)
Okay… how did you get in my house and WHY are you posting photos of my bookshelf?! :P
The big Urkel button is hilarious!
I like your sign and think I’ll get one for me. I’m sure my husband will really appreciate it. :) I’m learning that we all love coffee. I enjoyed my visit and finding out about you.
Love all the books, and are those a couple of guitar necks I see? And there is no hiding the fact that you are a Steelers fan as well! Woo!
We happen to have quite a few musical instruments in the house as well, hubby used to be a drummer, daughter plays flute and keyboard and there are probably 5 guitars around here, yet no one really “plays” them! And yep, Go Steelers!!
I would LOVE to just explore your whole hutch- stuff like that fascinates me! &I have a stuffed bookcase too, although I’ve switched over to ebooks so it hasn’t been growing as fast BUT my fiancee still reads some “real” books so he still contributes some. &Kid books? Don’t get me started- they’re every.where.
I think we could be best friends :) we are quite the match on 1, 2, & 3 (I did show my nightstand….it was actually cleaned up a bit, yikes)
what is it with the half finished craft projects? my daughter is a pro at that as well.
My daughter has the same issue with art projects, clothes, food, and toys. You can see everything she’s done throughout the day in bits and pieces all over the house.
My daughter really enjoys crafts, looks like you have A LOT of books!
I love old stuff, too. ;) What a fun collection of memorabilia.
Is that a back scratcher in your your bookcase? Excellent!
My daughter was the same way with her projects, and now my granddaughter, too. Perhaps they got it from me?! HA!
I love love LOVE the Urkle pin!!!
How neat! You don’t see one of those all the time!
I love the old glasses and the Urkle pin, those are awesome!
Seriously LOVE the Urkle pin! LOL
Love, love, love the books!!
I at least put my half done crafts away :)
This post made me smile–thank you for sharing, Henrietta!
Love meeting another tea, coffee and book addict!
I love the Urkle button! I wish I had one :)
Wow, I love the old book collection.
