If you have been scrambling to try and think of a unique yet fun gift to give your hubby for Father’s Day, then maybe this will give you a good idea! The kids and I usually get Super G. tools or chocolate. This year we wanted to do something a little bit different. I FINALLY came up with an idea when I received the newsletter for a local summer event that we have always wanted to visit, The Great Lakes Medieval Faire.
The email was to tell everyone about the Father’s Day special — buy 2 adult tickets for $30.00. This is a great deal since normal daily passes are $20 each for adults. I bought 4 adult tickets and one child ticket for a total of $65.00 Not bad considering that’s about how much it costs us to go see a movie together! This will be an ALL DAY event instead of just an hour or two. We are so excited {well the kids and I are, hubby doesn’t know.. yet!}.
We decided to get a little creative since the tickets won’t arrive in the mail in time for Father’s Day. We created an “official” invitation for the kids to give their Dad this Sunday. I think it turned out really well!
We even used a lighter to burn the edges to make the invitaton to look a bit more authentic {with adult supervision!}. We can use the tickets that we purchased on any day of the Faire but the weekend of August 4-5th looks to be the one we’ll most be interested in. There will be a pirate live fire weapons show by The Lake Erie Pirates, an interactive whip show by The Whipsknecht and it’s also Celtic Celebration Theme Weekend with Highland Games, food, pipers and more. Those events along with all of the regular medieval entertainment should make for a very awesome day of fun for Dad and all of us!
You could modify this idea for pretty much any event that your hubby likes: a day at the races, a night out at the movies, a day at the zoo or a museum — the possibilities are endless!
What are you getting your special guy for Father’s Day?
*Not sponsored in any way!
How fun!!! We have something similar here. I am getting my dad a gift card to his favorite restaurant!
That sounds like so much fun and what a great event to do as a family!
I love going to the local Renaissance Faire here, but yeah, it’s usually insanely expensive just to get in the door. That’s a pretty good deal. And I love the homemade invitation you guys made. Real nice touch with the burnt edges!
I am still thinking on what would I do for my dad this coming father’s day!
I love your custom invitation. I’ve always want to go to a Medieval Faire so I can eat a huge turkey leg, lol. Have fun!
I love this idea. It’s great that you can actually do something all day together. It doesn’t get much better than that. The invitation came out wonderful!
