Mommy Moments – Remembering the first year

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of HUGGIES. All opinions are 100% mine.

1996

When we had our first child, we were young. Being raised as an only child, I had never really been around babies so becoming a mother was a whole new experience. Thank goodness for our family doctor, who took countless 1, 2 and 3 am frantic calls from me when our son was perfectly fine. I have had a lot of those "Mommy Moments" over the years! If I were to give a new mom any sort of advice during that first year though, it would certainly be to make sure to never, ever, leave the house without the absolute number one baby essentials – a diaper bag, or at least a pack of diapers.

My son was probably around 7 months old when disaster struck. He was just old enough to sit up well by himself and my Dad had called to see if we wanted to go to the next town over for a quick shopping trip. Of course! What new mom doesn't jump at the chance to get out of the house?

In my hurry to get ready, I forgot the diaper bag on the living room floor and didn't realize it until we were almost at our destination. Since I had just fed, changed and readied my son, we decided to chance it and just try to hurry. It was at lunch that things went terribly, terribly wrong — with no new clean diaper in site.

Let's just say that in 18 years, I have never again stepped foot in the small Chinese restaurant where we had lunch that day. Please Moms, always be prepared! If you forget your diaper bag, stop at the nearest store, gas station, friend's house and pick up some diapers and wipes. And a few changes of clothes for you and baby. It will save you your sanity and a whole lot of embarrassment!

Or save yourself from ever making the mistake in the first place! Check out the HUGGIES® Mommy Center on Walmart.com for help on navigating through those first few months as a new mom. You'll find tips, advice and a whole lot more from moms like me who have been in your shoes. Now that we have a granddaughter, we have made sure to keep all of the baby essentials that are available at Walmart on hand. Supplies like HUGGIES® Little Snugglers Diapers, HUGGIES® Pure & Natural Diapers and of course many many packs of HUGGIES® NATURAL CARE Wipes!

Take it from this mom, preparation is your number one priority! How about you? Do you have any funny, silly or embarrassing Mommy Moments to share?

LOL! Everyone laughs…but I keep a large bag in my car with extra clothes/diapers/cups/etc for each kid. I have needed EVERYTHING in that bag at least once while out!

I don’t think I’ve ever forgotten my diaper bag, but I do remember that right after I had my second, I brought him with me to a party and out of no where, he had this explosive poop that shot out of the top and the legs of his diaper and got everywhere. I was mortified.

Airplane.diaper.disaster. I wish I never had to remember. ;) We laugh now, but it wasn’t funny at the time.

With my first child, I packed everything except the kitchen sink (took 10-15 diapers with me). For my third child, I just threw a diaper in my purse and off we went. Experience is wonderful.

I’ve had many but my darn bladder is the worst so peeing myself happens much too frequently. I just wrote about my story of wetting myself in a lavish restaurant. Oh what our lovely children do to us:)

I was always forgetting their change of clothes. I can’t tell you how many time I had to run into a dollar store and pick up a new outfit. I really admire women who have it all together and never forget anything.
