Help 40 communities win a $25K State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant!

Without our local communities, our lives would not be the same. For our town, community means free seasonal activities to enjoy with our family and friends, a safe place to raise our children and a network of people who care about one another in times of struggle or joy. Because I know how important a community can be to the lives of its residents, I am excited to partner with Mom Central to help spread the word about a wonderful community grant program that will help 40 amazing communities across the United States and Canada.

State Farm Neighborhood Assist

State Farm, along with the State Farm youth advisory board, has a goal to create positive changes in communities. Each year State Farm donates millions of dollars to nonprofits in both Canada and the US to make a big impact on helping communities become stronger, safer and better-educated. As a way to get the public involved, the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program was started last year so that everyone could vote to help decide where the money would go.

Among the 40 grant winners in 2012, there were two programs that definitely stood out — an inspiring Skate For Change program that gets kids involved with donating much needed items to their community’s homeless, all while doing the thing the love — riding their skateboards. And, the Paws Place no-kill shelter for dogs. With their 25K grant, they were able to purchase a new van to replace their old falling apart vehicle. Now, they are able to transport their larger dogs to adoption events and to local schools so that they may educate the public about their cause. These are just two of the amazing community organizations that benefited last year!

Help these communities with your votes!

This year, you can help again to decide what community programs will be able to fulfill their dreams with a $25,000 State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant! Please, just take a moment out of your day to visit the State Farm Neighborhood assist voting tab on Facebook to submit your votes. Now through April 22nd, you may vote up to 10 times per day for one or more community programs. On the tab, you’ll be able to read about individual causes, view the current leaderboard and share the app with your friends so that they too can help vote!

All of the 200 programs that have reached this stage have been carefully selected because of their ability to have positive and impactful changes on their community. I happen to be partial to any cause that helps animals, pets, dogs and cats so I’ll be spending most of my votes on those related causes. You may choose to vote for any of the cause you wish, they include funding for community safety, education and development.

After Facebook users have determined the top 40 by voting, the winners will be announced on April 29th. Each of the 40 will receive a $25,000 grant to help make their community dreams a reality. Please go over and vote now!
