Have you ever been to a chicken yard sale?

Or maybe a better question would be, Are you sick of hearing about chickens yet? Sorry, can’t help it. I’m convinced every family should own a chicken… or 30. They are funny creatures, they lay eggs, they cluck, what’s not to love? {okay, they do occasionally get into things they shouldn’t, don’t let it deter you} Plus, how in the world anyone can resist a little fluff ball of air that peeps is beyond me. How?

Can you?

Yes, those are three different fluff balls. Somehow seven fuzzy headed darlings ended up in our hands. I had no desire to have any more chicks this year, let along seven Barred Rock chicks, but just couldn’t resist, I couldn’t I tell ya! Along with the chicks came a pretty little banty hen who is very good at mothering. She reminds me of my Missy that we lost to a nasty old opossum or raccoon last year. ):  We named her Mandy. Isn’t she sweet?

pencil laced wyandotte pullets

Three of these little beauties ended up in my arms before we left that chicken yard sale as well. I was so excited to see these Pencil Laced Wyandotte pullets! They are going to {hopefully} eventually make beautiful babies with our new Silver Laced Wyandotte Rooster that we brought home a week or so ago!

Which reminds me! Guess what! Our {still-yet-to-be-named-but-we’re-leaning-towards-Clint-Eastwood} roo crowed for the very first time today! Well, he actually crowed for the very first time then proceeded to crow about fifty more times while running around the yard flapping his wings and looking very confused, yet proud of himself.

We Pie and Super G. also came home with T.H.I.S.

Even though I must admit to slightly thinking it is kinda sorta just a tiny bit cute. I do not like these much. Nope not much at all.
