Random Ramblings from Me – games & laundry

Hello strangers! December and January seem to be my hibernation months! I’ve been such a slacker lately with both the blog and life. It’s starting to catch up with me since I haven’t even been to Jazzercise since the beginning of December, I miss it… but it’s hard to get back into the swing of things for me sometimes. I am vowing that next week is the week I start exercising for real again! Plus there’s a new class I want to try that involves stretching, yoga, and Pilate’s! I need to kick this butt in gear and get out of Christmas vacation mode.

Family Game Night with Headbandz

Speaking of which, we had a great one! Pie got one of her top items from her wish list – the coveted Headbandz game! She had seen this game on iCarly over a year ago and thought it was one of the funnest looking games ever! Well she got it, and boy did we play it. My mom came over to visit one night and the kids talked her into playing with us. Mom is fun to play with, the kids especially like to see grandma being silly in any way they can. This game is absolute silliness so it was perfect.

First of all you have to wear a plastic band around your head while someone picks a random card and sticks it in the band without showing it to you. You might think the game looks easy… HA! It’s actually kind of hard trying to guess with only yes or no answers! We played with some friends of ours on new Year’s Eve and the grown ups had a harder time than the kids coming up with answers – it’s a SPOON chuck… s-p-o-o-n! :) Anyway when Mom came to play one of her cards turned out to be a duck.

After several rounds you can forget just what questions you asked, and what the answers were, so everyone takes to reminding each other at the beginning of the rounds. On Mom’s turn we all yell, “You’re a bird, you have feathers, you fly!” (since she’s asked these questions a few times and gotten these same answers)

I love you Mom, I really do, and I love that you started flapping your arms and saying, “I’m a bird… I have feathers… I fly?” And, I loved you even more when you yelled “I’M an AIRPLANE!” But, hey don’t get mad at us for laughing! You got the answer finally… I think, can’t remember for sure lol but I’m just glad that we were able to capture the moment for all eternity :)

Family Game Night with Mom and Headbanz

In other news at our very snowy home, the 50 bazillion year old, ugly, ornery, rip my hair out, leaky washing machine finally decided to kick the bucket last week. Thank God but Crap! Going without a washing machine for even a day around here is not good, not good at all! I immediately called our local Aaron’s when Super G. confirmed there would be absolutely no fixing of the decrepit old thing. We really don’t have the money, especially during the winter, to just shell out for a new washer so rent to own is the way to go for us. I ordered a set over the phone. Yes, a set. Our dryer is just as old as the geezer washer and an apartment sized 110 volt to boot. No way was I having a brand new washer with THAT dryer still around. Unfortunately they didn’t have any in stock, blah!@

We had to wait an entire WEEK for the set to be delivered. Well Super G. broke down on Sunday and took 4 loads in to the laundromat, I guess he didn’t like my approach of living in your pajamas for a few days because you have no clean pants left. It worked for me, I got some major crocheting done :) They finally delivered the set on Tuesday while I was at my Knotty Stitchers meeting. Super G. called to tease me about how he got to do the first load… stinker!

new maytag washer dryer

Oh my word, this washer and dryer set is so freakin’ awesome! We’ve never had new so I am in awe of how wonderful they are! They turned out to be the Maytag Centennial brand, the washer has a cool glass top so you can watch your clothes get clean :) Super G. seems to find this fascinating… I keep yelling at the kids “Hey, your dad’s watching the clothes wash again!”. I figure it might help them think I’m a little less weird, and he’s a little more, every bit helps I tell ya! Really, I can’t tell you how nice it is to be able to wash a normal sized load of clothes AND be able to dry them all at the same time in one dryer cycle… not three. I don’t even have to set the water level on the washer, it has an automatic sensor – how cool is that!

Now for my week to be even better, all I need to do is just make a decision about which camera to buy so I can take pictures again. Pie is getting tired of me using her camera – geesh! Square Trade rocks though! My payout was sent via PayPal two days after I sent out my broken camera! Great service!

Oh, and it’s STILL snowing! Holy cow!

My washer and dryer are so inefficient. I’ve been trying to talk my husband into getting a new set for over a year now. I hate taking over an hour just to dry a load. That doesn’t even include the time it takes to wash.

@Amanda, I feel your pain Amanda, that’s exactly how long it took for us to dry in our old one! Even though it costs a little bit more to rent to own I feel it’s a great way for us to be able to afford things we can’t just whip out a pile of cash for. For $93.00 a month I couldn’t be happier with our new washer and dryer! I’m still in awe every time I check to see if the clothes are dry and they are!
