Reading is one of my very favorite indulgences. I can’t turn down a good book and once I start, it’s hard for me to put it down until it’s done! Lately I’ve been finding myself reading more books that are geared towards young adult readers. While I thought I was done reading romance after all those Harlequin novels of my teen years, the paranormal romance genre of today certainly has its appeal. Think the Twilight and Hunger Games series! That’s why I’m so excited to share the Smart Chicks Kick It Tour with you!
The author tour will feature eighteen amazing young adult authors touring twelve cities from Sept 13-25, 2010! Each stop on the tour will feature six to nine “Smart Chicks” with no two stops the same! The tour kicks off on September 13th, 2010, 7 PM at BOOKPEOPLE in Austin, TX. Featured “Chicks” will be Kelley Armstrong, Melissa Marr, Alyson Noel, Holly Black, Rachel Caine & Cassandra Clare. Check the schedule to see if they will be making a stop near you. If you do have a chance to stop into one of the events be sure to download one of the location specific tour posters for the authors to sign! You can also print out free bookmarks and t-shirt templates to show up in style! Or go ahead and purchase a ready made Smart Chicks t-shirt from cafepress.com to show how much you love the fantasy, romance and excitement of YA fiction! Don’t forget to check in with the blog to see what some of the authors are up to!

Looking at the authors who are going to be on this tour, I have seen a few that I enjoy, but hands down my favorite would have to be Kelley Armstrong. I adore her adult series, Woman of the Otherworld, and was thrilled to find that I enjoyed her Darkest Powers series just as much.

My favorite YA series is the Hunger Games, I know that may be cliche but the concept that Suzanne Collins came up with was so original. I’m reading Mockingjay right now.
