What’s in my messy fridge?

I think that Trisha from MomDot is on a mission to get us bloggers to showcase our worst habits with her most recent “blog carnival” posts! lol! I do like to take a peek into other people’s lives though, this is such a fun way to do so!

Each week she is asking bloggers to post honest photos of their lives! We’re keeping it real here on A Hen’s Nest! Last week I took you on tour of our messy collections. This week, I’m showing you our food stash!

My fridge needs cleaned, as usual, and right now it is sadly filled with junk. We had pizza for supper (oh boy is the veggie pizza with ranch GOOD) and there are some huge hoagies that my husband always buys but no one ever eats. I’m not sure why he keeps bringing them home.

in my fridge

There is always a jug or two or three of sweetened and unsweetened tea in ours. I also always have Daisy sour cream and that beer? It’s been in there for months and months. We aren’t big drinkers. Yogurt, fruit, flour and eggs are always on hand. If I had been grocery shopping in the last week, there would be tons of peaches and cherries inside the fridge as well, I ate the last peach this morning and I need to go get more tomorrow!

There is always ice cream in the freezer, it’s a {crisis} if we run out.

We have a cupboard just for cereal. We always have too much cereal crammed into this cupboard, it’s much deeper than it looks and there’s another row of boxes in back! Hubby sneaks in the chips and sometimes there’s a loaf of bread if I haven’t found it and thrown it into the fridge.

The bottom cupboard holds everything else. You might notice that there are a few things that I splurge on. Sometimes the generic just doesn’t taste as good as the original! We also have a shelf with a bin where I put all of the school lunch snacks. I didn’t take a photo because it’s empty right now.t I’ll be filling it up again shortly with granola bars, min bags of cheeze-its and other things that my daughter likes to pack.

I agree, some generic brands just aren’t as good. We used to have boxes of cereal too, but now we don’t seem to eat it as much.

Super fun. I’m actually posting mine tomorrow, so tired tonight and wanted to catch up on blogs:) You are right though, must buy brand names for some things:)

  3. 3

Yep!! Some things just don’t taste as good in their generic forms. I do the same thing with my lunch snacks etc.

  4. 4

There are certain things we have to buy name brand too.

  5. 5

I saw that chocolate Jif in a magazine ad and can’t wait to try it. Is it as addictive as Nutella?

  6. 7

Your pantry is very organized!! We keep our cereal on top of the fridge.

I make my husband’s tea – the recipe is on my blog if you want it! :)

Oh my goodness I have never seen so much food! LOL I could eat for months there! hahahaha And I totally agree on not scrimping on name brand food – there are some things you just CANT cut corners on.

  8. 9

Yay for Nutella! I’m also curious about the Jif chocolate stuff…how is it?

I imagine this is what my pantry will look like as my kids grow into teens…they eat like crazy NOW – I’m so scared for later.

  10. 12

    Hooray for sweet tea!!!

  11. 13

That’s the first jar of Nutella that I have seen. I keep meaning to buy some but I always forget.

  12. 14

Mmmm Nutella… so good with honey wheat pretzel rods!

  13. 15

I think my kids would like to visit your kitchen.

  14. 16

I would eat the hoagie!! lol

  15. 17

I will help you guys finish the hoagies, I love them LOL!

  16. 18

I’m with Anne, I’d eat the hoagie.

And I totally agree about the generic stuff. Sometimes you just have to spend the money.

  17. 19

My refrigerator looks just like yours. My husband is suggesting we just get another refrigerator and place it in the garage.

  18. 20

Ok my kids would be in heaven at your house! I have been waiting until right before school starts to go grocery shopping so our kitchen is getting down to the basics..LOL!

  19. 21

    Wow, someone loves cereal!

  20. 22

Chips are my weakness, at one time we had like 8 boxes of different cereals.

  21. 23

mmm nutella! I have some on my pantry shelf…I should make nutella cookies!

  22. 24

I don’t know if I want to show off my fridge. I just bought 9 dozen eggs. Not quite sure what I am going to do with them LOL.

  23. 25

    Looks pretty organized to me!

  24. 26
