This is one of my older hens – Penny, we lost her sister last summer :(. Penny is a red sex link {or Red Star} hen that we got at the local feed mill years ago. She is such a curious chicken, she’s the one who will follow anyone in the family around the yard and hover around the picnic table when we’re having a picnic. She probably has the most photos on the blog since she is always running around after us!

What a beauty. I’ve convinced my husband we need to get hens again next spring so I’m stoked about it. I’m probably going to be getting Barred Rocks.

My dad have group of hens and chicks in our backyard. I really love every time my dad is coming towards them carrying their food. I can see my dad surrounded by this big birds. 6 hens or so, and 15 or more chicks. But last 2 days, two of the chicks was just found dead.
