Did you catch World news Tonight with Diane Sawyer? I usually do not watch any news programs, I just can’t handle all the bad news that pours out of the television. I overheard the world cancer though and turned the volume up.
In Bokoshe, Okla. {pop. 450} elementary aged children are writing letters to the president pleading for help {they’ve yet to hear a reply}. Their town is slowly becoming overrun by a toxic cloud of dust that is contaminating their air and even the water they drink. This cloud is caused by a local dump site called MMHF — Making Money Having Fun. Over 80 dump trucks per day carry coal ash, which contains poisonous arsenic, mercury and lead, to the dump site. Over half the children in the school suffer from asthma, 14 people in the 20 surrounding homes have cancer. That is a ridiculously large percentage. A shocking percentage.
In response to their plan to call coal ash hazardous waste and consider more lenient standards, The EPA had these encouraging words: They are
“Trying to protect human health in a cost effective way”
Really? What’s the value of a human life? Human children? How can someone condone “Making Money and Having Fun” while they are killing the community around them, along with the people in it? How?
Thanks for the auspicious writeup. It in fact was once a leisure account it.
Glance complicated to far brought agreeable from you!
By the way, how could we communicate?
