I know I have been saying it a LOT, but it is almost time for our kids to go back to school! Nine more days until the big day! We have been getting prepared by finishing up their school shopping and stocking up on lunchbox goodies. This year I am also using my new Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator to help with our back to school prep and organization.
I never realized how many ways I could use a laminator! There are a ton of fun school, work and home laminating ideas to get you started on the Fellowes site. When I unpacked my new laminator, I knew exactly what I wanted to make first — a weekly picture frame menu board that I pinned on Pinterest months ago. I am happy to say that I have finally made my own version. I’m so excited to share it with you and tell you how the Fellowes laminator helped me to easily get my Pinterest craft finished in no time!
Make a Picture Frame Menu Board with Fellowes
To create my weekly Menu Board craft, I used an approx. 9″x16″ tall photo frame that I found at the store for $5.00. This was the perfect size to fit in the small space I had available. I removed the glass and used a bold black fabric with with tiny white dots to cover the cardboard insert as a backdrop. Then came the fun part! I used an aluminum foil box to create the menu card holder, I just wrapped it in gift wrap and ribbon. For the menu tab clips, I covered the tops of some old wooden clothespins with strips of craft ribbon.
A few pieces of stamped card paper that I had leftover from a card class were perfect to create my Menu banner, the box label and the date labels. I used bright craft paper to print out my menu slips, laminated them and then cut apart. Hot glue and glue dots hold it all together. I added an extra clothespin at the bottom of the frame to store our take out menus. Hey, we all need a break!
To give my menu some kind of organization, I color coded the meals — pink for chicken, green for meats, yellow for breakfast-for-dinner and super easy meals, orange for soups & stews, blue for pastas and purple for crockpot meals. This makes it easier to decide what’s for dinner each week. I also printed out and laminated some blank strips. Since they are laminated, I can use a dry erase marker to write on the strip.
It’s a bit crooked but I like it and think it turned out great!
I have to say that I am super impressed with the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator! The Menu banner that I created has three fairly thick pieces of craft and stamped paper all layered together, I wasn’t sure that the laminator would work on them. It did! The laminator took the layered banner with no problem at all and the laminator pouch sealed perfectly!
Besides my menu board, I have also used the Fellowes Laminator to laminate several pieces of my daughter’s early grade school art. I am excited to keep her little drawings preserved this way instead of just throwing them in a box and hoping for the best! My daughter and I also spent an afternoon creating a back to school “mustache mobile” for her to hang in her room. It was a fun project and a cute way to get her excited for a new school year.

That is SUCH a cool idea!! I wish I were that organized!
I love how ‘slick’ it looks and that it can handle some heavy-duty work. That’s a great idea for the menu as well. I tried doing a white board but that fizzled quick.
We start school tomorrow! I love the menu board you made. It’s very crafty and cute. I would love to have a laminator, I would go crazy laminating :)
I love your new menu board, it did turn out great! I use packing tape to laminate, pretty bad right?
I LOVE your menu board! It turned out beautifully!
