Send a little “Cheer” to our military heroes and families with Cheerios and the USO!

Cheerios_Cheer_BoxWhat better way to wrap up November than with a little thankfulness! While my family and I are at home with our loved ones, enjoying each other’s company, and looking forward to the upcoming holidays together, there are so many who do not have that luxury. Over 3.6 million family members are missing their loved ones. Loved ones that are spending their holidays apart from their families because they are protecting MY family, and YOUR family. The United States has over 1.4 active duty military members. We may not be able to help our national heroes and their families spend this holiday with each other, but there is something we can all do to show how much we appreciate them.

We can say thank you. We can say it and mean it. Cheerios® has teemed up with the USO in an effort to remind people to thank our military. Throughout the month of November, look for specially marked boxes of Cheerios® that feature the “Cheer” postcard. Eat up your delicious cereal, then cut out the postcard, write a thankful and encouraging note on the back, add a stamp and drop it in the mail. The USO will make sure a military family receives your meaningful message.

Also, for each “Cheer” card sent, Cheerios® will donate $1.00 to the USO to help fund the many programs that the USO has to care for and help our military and their families. Cheerios® has already donated $150,000 and will donate up to an additional $100,000 depending on how many cards are sent through Nov. 12th, 2012.

The USO has been a non-profit organization that helps keep our military spirits high for over 70 years. They support the families of our miltary and active duty members with programs such as “With You All The Way”, which helps children and their families cope with a parent’s deployment and wounded or lost family members. “United Through Reading” and “Operation Phone Home” are just two of the other wonderful programs that allow the USO to bring military families together with their active duty family members. In some cases, even allowing deployed fathers to see the birth of a child via Skype!

Please send your thanks today. Visit Cheerios.com and Cheerios® on Facebook to learn more.
