My kids are out of school and that means it’s officially summertime! It also means that I really need to stop procrastinating about eating healthier and exercising! The kids are home most of the day now and we all want delicious yet good for us snacks to easily grab from the fridge or cupboard.
I like to shake up our summer eating habits by keeping fresh fruit and veggies, whole grain crackers and a large variety of yogurt like nonfat Dannon Oikos® on hand. Doing this makes it so easy for everyone in the family to just grab a spoon and go about their day without munching on junk.
How I shake things up!
The perfect way to get everyone excited about eating better is to make a super quick yogurt parfait that is light yet filling. I love the pairing of naturally sweet fruit with tart yogurt! Just layer your favorite yogurt flavor with fresh fruits like sliced strawberries and bananas in a fun glass. Top with a beautiful sprig of mint from the garden and serve with a smile.

Besides making sure the family is eating healthy, we all want to look good in that bathing suit this summer! To keep us on track, we can join the ‘Grab a Spoon ‘til June’ campaign to encourage us to keep on going with motivational messages, weight loss management goals and more!

Dietician Keri Glassman has teamed up with the delicious Dannon Okios® brand to bring us even more ways to shake up our routine by bringing us fun healthy lifestyle tips!
Here are just a few ways to get started with eating healthier this summer! Visit OikosYogurt.com for even more tips, messages, advice and recipes.
Easy and Healthy Lifestyle Tips from Keri
- Every Meal Is A “Monday Morning”. Focus on eating better, one meal at a time. Otherwise it can be easy to get discouraged – forget the worry! Your only mission: Make the next meal you eat nutritious, balanced and satisfying.
- Don’t Eat Around A Craving. Honor your craving with a conscious indulgence – take a few deep breaths and find a healthy alternative! Try satisfying your sweet tooth with Dannon Oikos® Greek nonfat yogurt, it is nutritious but still has an incredible taste.
- No-Excuses Exercise. Sometimes the biggest barrier to working out is just getting there so a good option can be to make it as easy as possible—throw in a workout DVD or even going for a walk takes away excuses and gets you moving!
- Satisfying Proteins. A moderate-protein balanced diet with a reasonable amount of fiber, carbohydrates and the appropriate amount of healthy fats is the best way to maintain a healthy weight. Dairy is a great source of protein, try a creamy Greek nonfat yogurt like Dannon Oikos®–it has twice the protein of regular lowfat yogurt2.
2 Oikos Greek Nonfat yogurt: 12 -14g Protein (24%DV), Regular lowfat yogurt: 5g protein (10%DV) per 5.3oz.
The creamy-thick Dannon Oikos® 0% fat berry flavors provide an excellent source of protein and are a great tool to help you stay on track towards your goals! With fun recipe offerings like Creamy yogurt cheesecake, Ultimate twice baked potatoes and Creamy spiced hummus, I can really shake things up using Dannon Oikos® yogurt.

I’m on a quest to eat better and was planning on incorporating yogurt. I love this idea of using the already flavored Greek yogurt without the fat or sugar content of other yogurt types.
