Even though I’ve said before that I don’t do the whole new year resolution thing, that doesn’t mean I don’t have personal goals for myself each year. So far I’ve been able to try out the Shed 5 fast and the CFS Method DVDs. They are both great workouts! Shed 5 Fast has some moves in it that I am a little familiar with from Jazzercise class. I get a good sweat worked up with this one, and really enjoy the boxing and kickboxing intervals in Workout #1. Whew those jab/speed bag moves are pretty awesome! I also enjoy being able to use weights in parts of my workout for strength training. What’s nice is that it’s a quick half hour workout that I can do while my hubby takes our daughter to school. It really fits into my day wherever I want it to. In CFS Method I have used both Phase 1 and Phase 2 so far. It’s so great to be able to fit a quick core workout into just a few minutes of my day! I absolutely love that there are no long winded introductions to any of the DVDs. Lindsay starts off with a very brief, yet helpful, intro that doesn’t take away from my workout or make me feel overwhelmed.
In both DVDs that I tried out, Lindsay’s instructions were clear and simple to understand. I never felt like I was overdoing it, or not doing enough, because while Lindsay is doing one thing, her two exercise partners are also showing ways to modify. This is great for those of us who like to see what the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced versions of a move are. Throughout the workouts, Lindsay offers small tips and shows proper technique that is easy to follow and helps me to know how a move feels when it’s being done correctly.The background music is nice and upbeat without taking over, it goes very well with the workouts so I can focus on what I’m doing, not the music. Also, having Lindsay occasionally remind me to breathe is very helpful, as I do tend to forget sometimes and hold my breath! The variety of exercise techniques and the short intervals make the time fly by so I’m not bored and wondering when it will be over. Her cues are right on and after I’ve finished, I feel that I’ve gotten a good workout in without being frustrated with myself.
Even though I can’t claim any pregnancy related weight gain (10 years after my last baby, I think that excuse is out of the question, lol!) I know I am going to have fun with the Post Natal Boot Camp DVD anyway. If you do need to lose pregnancy weight though, this is the perfect DVD for you. It has a really wonderful Menu system that allows you to choose any of the workout moves on the DVD and combine them into your own routine. There are a ton of exercises on this DVD! Of course, it also has some already created workouts so you can mix and match whatever you want to do! So fun!
The 60 Day SlimDown packet that you can download and print after purchase is also quite helpful. The meal plan isn’t a diet at all. It has yummy meals suggestions such as Flank Steak Fajitas, Meatless Chili, and Shrimp Gumbo. These are things that I will actually eat and do not have to do any special shopping for. The Family will like them too so that’s a big plus as well. The plan offers guidelines about calorie intake and food group servings that are easy to remember as well.
I am extremely happy with this fitness program and know that it is going to be something I try to do weekly. I think it will also compliment the Jazzercise classes I already take and help me to jump start my weight loss!
