The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker – Guest book Review by pixie13

Please welcome my sister pixie13 to her first guest review here at A Hen’s Nest! Back in December I received a book in the mail that I had no clue about where it came from. I’m not sure if I won it or what but since it’s not my normal reading genre and I didn’t want to overlook the review request on the paper included, I asked demanded that my sister do it for me. After all  she inhales books and that’s what sisters do right? Here’s her take on it.

Pixie13‘s Book Report:

Synopsis: The book opens as FBI Special Agent Brad Raines surveys the scene of The Bride Collector’s fourth kill. A psychotic genius is killing young, beautiful women & the pace is escalating. Raines & his partner, forensic psychologist Nikki Holden, follow the clues to The Center for Wellness & Intelligence, where they enlist the aid of the most unlikely of helpers: the incredibly gifted mentally ill residents. But when The Bride Collector chooses Nikki as his sixth victim, will their help be enough to save Brad’s partner & friend?

Review: The story is told well, with enough of a difference to set it apart from other thrillers I’ve read. The pace is fast. There are certainly enough clues that point to the “surprise” twist towards the end, but I missed them, as this is not my normal type of read. I did enjoy this book.

The writing is excellent. There are no poorly constructed sentences to stumble over, no long, unnecessary descriptive paragraphs that take you out of the story. I will say this book is probably not for the squeamish. While not extremely graphic in nature, there were still a few passages that made even me say, “eww, gross.”

I give the story a 4 only because it really isn’t the type of book I read. Definitely a 5 on the writing, though. I would most likely read this book again somewhere down the line.

Buy It:
