Who doesn’t like road trips? They are the perfect opportunity for families to bond and grow closer. Who doesn’t remember all the road trips they went on as a child? No matter what happens, the road trips you went on with your family will always be considered the most enjoyable vacations of your life. Maybe it’s the sense of adventure which makes it so special. Maybe it’s something else.
Who knows? But if you have children today, you will obviously want to try and re-create these memories for them too, right? But no one wants to be stuffed into a car anymore. Everyone wants enough space to do their own thing. That’s where an RV comes into the picture. It doesn’t matter if you don’t own one. By the time you’re done reading this post, you will be dying to take out an RV loan right away.
Distractions
It doesn’t matter how good your children are, when on a long journey, it is very important for you to bring sufficient toys and games along so that they are occupied throughout the drive. Technology helps too. Portable DVD players, iPad’s, etc. can help ensure your drive is no longer as difficult or boring as it used to be. Don’t forget headphones for every family member. And if you aren’t interested in technology, there’s always the good old games like 20 questions, I-spy, etc.
Food
While packing snacks is important, packing the right snacks is even more important. You don’t want to pack too many sugary things. Pack healthy, nutritious snacks instead. Eat at regular intervals so that they don’t pester you to stop at the next McDonald’s. A few sweet treats are fine. But too many and they are going to be on a sugar high inside the RV and there is no situation in which this ends well.
The Journey
No matter what you say, a road trip is more about the journey than the destination. You need to be spontaneous. You can’t just be stepping on the gas all the way without looking left or right. If you see something interesting, stop. You might just learn something new. This is what will create those unforgettable memories for you and your family.
Recreational Vehicles
The best road trips are the ones where you don’t make any reservations. This is where the RV gets to shine. You don’t have to be on a schedule. You don’t have to reach your destination at a pre-determined time. There are no hotel bookings. All you need to do is pick a destination or maybe don’t. Just get in the RV and start driving. If you don’t have a schedule, you will never be late and you will never be behind schedule. That’s how a road trip should be. Here are a few benefits of taking an RV along for your road trip:
~ When you have an RV, you don’t need a plan. You don’t have to spend days and weeks planning your vacation. Just pick up your stuff, get in your RV and start driving. It’s as simple as that.
~ You are going to learn to appreciate a lot of things which you usually overlook. When was the last time you stopped to look at the sun set? Stopped at the side of a stunning wildflower field? You don’t remember right? This is the perfect opportunity for you to reconnect with nature.
~ An open road is a fantastic way for you to recharge your batteries. Use the opportunity to forget all your responsibilities and just focus on enjoying life. Make it clear to your family that the road trip is all about learning to enjoy life instead of being caught up in daily life.
~ It is so much cheaper to travel by RV. You don’t have to pay for plane tickets, your stay is covered. The only additional expense you have is gas. And considering how cheap gas is right now because of oil shale development, this isn’t something that’s going to burn a hole in your pocket anytime soon. Gas would even be cheaper if there was oil shale development on federal lands, in New York State, California, and so on but that is another topic.
This should be more than enough to convince you to buy an RV. Don’t put it off any longer. It’s time you re-created those brilliant road trips for your children. They will certainly love you for it.
