{almost} Wordless Wednesday – Purple Plum Tree #ww

When we moved here over seven years ago, I dug up and brought a bunch of plants and flowers from the old house. One was a tiny little purple plum tree. You know the kind that you order from a seed catalog and it comes looking like a dead stick with roots?

Well, once I planted it here at the new house, it took off and for the first time, there are plums on our tree this year! A lot of plums! They are almost ripe and I’ve been daydreaming about what I’ll make with them.

I haven’t had a “good” plum in years The ones from the store are always hard and flavorless. I am so hoping these ones get juicy and sweet like the ones we had when I was a kid!

Wow, nice looking plums! You’re lucky that you can grow them & don’t have to pay for them at the farmers market.

What a beautiful site! I love having fruit and nut trees around the house. We planted peach trees a couple of years ago and although we get peaches they are so worm infested that we don’t usually eat them :(. We sprayed but to no avail. I’m not a very good fruitier.

My dad tried growing peaches when I was a kid and never could get them to fruit very well. We did have several large plum tree/bushes down by the creek though and I remembering just eating them all the time! I think plum trees thrive on neglect better than peaches :)

I didn`t know that so many things can be cooked and baked using plums! Especially when these plums are growing in your own garden and you know for sure that there are now chemicals and nitrates in it and these fruits are absolutely safe for your family!

Absolutely! I have never sprayed the tree with anything so the leaves have been chewed on a bit but most of the plums are hole free. I like knowing they are completely clean (well except for the road dust!)

Haha, I have had that happen before on a photo I shared but not his time! Her nose is to the ground (right) in this photo! She is a good photobomber though =)
