Last week was busy with fair-going and basketball and more fair-going! On Saturday, I had my annual doughboy — yum! A doughboy is just fried bread dough that is brushed with melted butter and sprinkled with cinnamon, sugar and powdered sugar!
Pie rode carnival rides for 5 hours straight during ride-a-rama Friday night. The rain stopped just in time!
My feet and legs were numb from following her and standing around watching her ride rides all night. It was worth it though — Pie and her friends had a blast!
The Banana is “the” favorite ride! I can’t even count how many times thee girls rode this one! You would never EVER catch me on this thing. Ever.
My mom took home a 1st prize blue ribbon for her beautiful wall quilt! She put so much hard work into this adorable hanging. She used embroidery and applique and she even stuffed the large cow head to make a cool 3D effect! Congrats Mom, you are awesome :)
On Sunday, one of the hens laid an interesting three inch long oblong egg! I bet there is a double yolk in this! I haven’t cracked it open to check yet.

First, the doughboy looks delish! And second – holy huge egg batman! I kinda feel sorry for the poor hen who laid that.
I know! And she isn’t even a large chicken!
That egg is really neat!
I need some doughboy!! ;) Congrats to your momma!! That egg is cool – will you eat it for breakfast?!
We will probably eat it in an omelette!
oh gosh i love ‘doughboys’..but here they’re called Elephant Ears or Beavertails! :D

So jealous! I really want to go to our state fair but it is so incredibly expensive. Looks like you had fun!
We avoid all other fairs because they can get pricey. Ours costs just $8 to get in for those over 12 so not too bad. Ride-a-rama was $12 for 7 hours of ride time and the only other expensive thing was all the FOOD we ate down there over the week! It was so worth not having to cook though :)
you always have the most interesting posts! I love them.
After looking at those ride pictures I am not feeling so well. LOL. I am old and can’t handle that kind of stuff anymore.
Happy WW!
Way to go mom on her winning quilt! Looks like a great week!
It looks fun. The doughboy is like an elephant ear? Congrats to your mom on her 1st place win!
I think so, just fried dough with butter and toppings on it, so basically the same thing!
That looks like so much fun and those oval eggs are weird but I bet yummy!
Oh wow, that fair looks so fun. like a real county fair :) I miss those. And your moms quilt is cool! Congrats!! Also love the egg…bizarre!
I LOVE fairs! And that quilt is gorgeous!!
That egg is GIGANTIC! That is so cool that your mom did so well with her quilt. Yippee!
There are so many things I love about this post :) Yum, now I am dizzy, congrats to mom and wow egg! That is a REALLY neat quilt your mom made. I’d love to see it closer up.
How did you do that rotating picture thing for the ride? That turned out really neat!
Thanks! I wish I had some close up photos of mom’s quilt too! Also, I used Photoscape’s animated GIF option to make the the rotating picture — super easy :)
Awwww, I miss the fair! I just saw a pic on FB of my niece with her face all painted too. We missed the fair here because it was so hot that week since it’s in July.
We had perfect cool weather this year and amazingly it only rained for a half the day on Friday!
I LOVE a good carnival. It takes me back :)
