Wordy Wednesday – The Harlem Globetrotters!

Monday night we had a really great night out! When I had noticed that The Harlem Globetrotters would be in town this month I knew we had to get tickets. Since Pie discovered her love of playing basketball last year we’ve been trying to do more things that get her involved in the sport. We decided to splurge on better tickets since we were tired of getting stuck way up in the corner at past events. This time was different! We were so excited to see that our seats were just the third row from the court and right across from the free throw line at the end we sat on! Can I say awesome!

The last time I remember seeing The Globetrotters was in elementary school, so that was quite a few years ago! Super G. remembers seeing them when he was little too. I don’t know why but they don’t seem to come to our area schools anymore, not sure if they do elsewhere or not?

Anyway, we had so much fun! There was a ton of random dancing, an impromptu football game, a pretty fun rendition of Thriller and MC Hammer dancing, a purse snatching (in fun), and lots of laughing. I don’t think I’ve laughed that much in awhile and it really felt good to enjoy something with the kids and Super G. Unfortunately it also made me realize I need to get over this inability to make a decision about which camera I should purchase. Mr.T.’s camera is okay but I couldn’t get any clear shots :( Pie could care less about that though, she was amazed by the tricks they were doing with that ball out on the court!

At halftime Super G. bought her a t-shirt that looks like a jersey for $25. She really wanted a real jersey but it was $60 and a little too steep for us after buying the better tickets. When she was able to get five autographs on her t-shirt though, she decided it was a pretty good idea. She squeezed her way into the crowd and  grabbed Crash, Slick, Bull, Dizzy, and Hammer’s signatures. It’s now hanging on her wall after wearing it to school yesterday:) After seeing them again, I can understand why they have been entertaining us for 85 years! It’s just a good time, I think everyone should go see The Globetrotters!

Oh that sounds like SO much fun. I remember them from the Meadowlark Lemon days. I always wanted to see them life, but never got to. So glad you and your children got to experience them together.

I remember Meadow Lark Lemon, mostly from TV… my DH did see them live, they used to play in Milwaukee every New years eve. They were always entertaining. I’d go see them again, even thou it is all different players.

I’m 24, and I saw them for the first time with my family and I was totally taken off-gaurd. I had no idea what I was in for. It was a good surprise though. I had so much fun! Those guys are talented and hilarious.
