Random Obsessiveness that is me

My poor blog has been suffering lately. Being sick last week definitely didn’t help it. Before i was sick though I started feeling that dreaded thing that Dr. Seuss likes to call the “slump”

You’ll come down from the Lurch with an unpleasant bump. And the chances are, then, that you’ll be in a Slump.
And when you’re in a Slump, you’re not in for much fun. Un-slumping yourself is not easily done. ~ Dr. Seuss, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

That’s what I call it too, a nasty old slump, one where I don’t feel like doing much of anything, let alone blogging. Believe me I’ve tried! The weather, the cold, the sniffles and boredom of this end-of-winter season always get me down. I haven’t even been to Jazzercise since before I caught that cold! I can remedy that by going back on Wednesday though, maybe that will will help with the unslumping ;)

see how sad my poor dying Uni is :(

Then there’s another reason I haven’t been blogging, I’ve been playing games, one game in particular and feeling like a real dork while doing so. Remember that Wizard101 game I reviewed last week? Well I do believe I may be slightly addicted to it! I’ve always loved gaming, it’s why I wanted a computer in the first lace back in 2004! Well, that and eBay but that’s another story. I like to escape reality and gaming often does it for me. I’m ashamed to admit it but my cousin and I spent an entire year playing on Neopets together everyday…. seriously… every day. I’m tattling on ya Manda :) It was so silly but fun and must have done something for us since we were obsessed with it. I even went as far as being a forum moderator for our group of kids and adults, lol. I’m sure my poor little pets are now dying and starving though, haven’t been on there in a very long time.

Alia MistBloom – my Wizard101 alias

Anyway, this Wizard101 game is pretty entertaining! Who doesn’t like dressing up your own wizard, decorating your virtual house, outfitting her/him with various pets, clothing items, amulets and so on! I know it brings out the kid in me and that feels good. I like to feel geeky and nerdy and indulge my weird side. I’m in love with the fantasy and magic theme there! I know I’m not the only one because I’ve run into many adults, especially in the wee hours of the night! I’m telling you that you should try it out! I suspect that my obsessive streak has passed onto the kids because my 9 year old is just as bad as I am. She follows along with my random gaming finds and has since abandoned her Neopets and Webkinz in favor of Wizard101. She also fights me for the computer so she can play. That girl is good at it too, she has no fear of jumping in and fighting, dueling, chatting with her safe chat (love that!) and just being a general virtual hero. It’s so nice knowing it’s a generally safe environment for her too. I used to play Runescape but got so tired of fending off all of the vulgar and rude players there that I quit, I just wanted to do my quests man!

I know my son would play online more often but the poor kid never has a chance to touch the computer. I wish we had another one so we could play together, now THAT would make it fun! My poor hubby hates it though, he is so not tech savvy and really doesn’t understand it when I get absolutely involved and absorbed in something like playing a game or learning some new design or blogging tool.

I’m going to prove that I’m not always obsessive…. I’m not going to go back and check this post, nope I’m not going to go insert and/or delete roaming commas, not going to correct my numerous grammatical errors, no spell check. No going back to fix my rambling thoughts to make sure they make sense. Not doing it. I think what I’ll do instead is go play a game ;)

Every once in awhile we have to taken advantage of the slumps and do something we enjoy as well as rest our bodies. I hope that all your slump is quickly trumped! :) Take care.
