While I was doing this Mr.T. asked if he could help, so I set him to the task of making the box of Jiffy Cornbread. Easy peasy right?? egg, milk & mix. You would think so! First of all he tried to make it in a huge bowl, um no kiddo, here’s a small bowl. Then he tried to grab my huge wooden spoon to mix it, ummmmm…. no, use this small spoon. You all know how small a box of that Jiffy cornbread mix is right? It was overkill! lol. Anyway his sister Pie wanders over and starts helping him read the directions. Mind you Mr.T. is 14 and lil’ ol’ Pie is 9.
Pie’s telling him it says to let it stand for 5 minutes (yep the box says that, I never do though!) Mr.T. reads out loud that he needs to stir it 30 times. I see him stir it. I see them both set the microwave timer for 5 minutes, lol they’re so cute following the directions, I let them.
The timer goes off. Mr.T. sprays the cake pan he’s using to bake the cornbread in (hey, it works!) Then he dumps in the contents of the mixing bowl. I look over from my stirring of the hamburger. My eyes probably bug out, I almost yell “What the heck is wrong with that cornbread batter?!?” It just poured out like a stream of water into the greased pan!
I look, the box isn’t even open! I LAUGH!! LOUDLY!!! I try not to, but I can’t help it.
Mr.T. has mixed the 1 measly egg and 1/3 cup of milk for a precise 30 strokes. He and Pie have set the timer and patiently waited the directed 5 minutes to ensure a fluffy batter. HAHAHA! I’m almost in hysterics.
But they FORGOT to add the cornbread mix!! What does my boy say to me? ” Man, I knew this mix would have to come into play sometime!”
Good grief but I love this kid!
OMG!!!! I just had to laugh so hard I can see them now !!!! That is one for the books.
Happy moments!
:D … OMG, I would have rolled on the floor and not been able to catch my breath. I hope they saw the humor in that. Kids give such great blog fodder!
I really enjoyed your entry! I love how they time everything.
Hee, hee funny! At least your boy will help you in the kitchen.
That would be a very nice experience.. haha Never forgotten.
