Recipe Reader7

Before you print of yet another recipe, let me share a cool new kitchen gadget with you! The Key Ingredient Recipe Reader is a must have gift this holiday season, for foodies and folks who like to have all of their recipes at their fingertips.

I know that I waste way too much printer ink printing off recipes — then I end up misplacing them or losing them so I reprint! The Recipe Reader solves this problem as you can store thousands of recipes in the device. Use the web or mobile app to add recipes to your free Key Ingredient account and they will automatically sync to your Recipe Reader via WiFi. Key Ingredient is a visual recipe library that lets you organize your recipes into cookbook files, for easy searching and use. Using the Recipe Reader with your account is seamless and easy to set up.

With the “Cookmark” bookmarklet, users can clip recipes from popular websites like Food Network and Epicurious, then store them in their accounts to sync with their Recipe Readers You can create, collect and share recipes with other users, add their recipes to your cookbooks and even add comments and notes on recipes.

You can also add to your online recipe collection by typing a recipe out on your own or, if you become a Prime Member, you can snap a photo of a recipe and upload it to the site to be added to your collection. Prime membership has many other benefits, such as exclusive rewards and RecipeSnap™ savings. At $19.99 a year it’s very affordable if you have a lot of recipes you would like to upload via this method. Though the membership isn’t necessary to enjoy the site or your Recipe Reader.

Key Ingredient also has  over 1.5 million recipes available to browse through and add to your cookbooks! The Recipe Reader can store up to 2500 recipes with photos or 5000 without photos — that’s a whole lot of cooking!

The Recipe Reader is a great tool in the kitchen. I’m a messy cook in the so I like knowing that the touchscreen device is kitchen-safe with its spill and splatter resistant exterior and easy to clean with a damp cloth. The recipes are easy to read and I can adjust the font to a size I’m comfortable with. Each recipe gets it’s own three page spread that includes a photo, if available, the recipe and information such as the recipe source, servings and how many times it was viewed by Key Ingredient members.

Besides storing recipes, the recipe Reader also has a very useful converter calculator, a full library of common kitchen substitution that I really enjoy, a convenient planner tab to store a menu for easy meal prep and maybe my favorite extra feature – a timer tab with 3 built-in timers!

The Key Ingredient Recipe Reader comes with an AC adapter and takes about 8 hours to fully charge. Once charged, it can be unplugged and moved around the kitchen with you while you cook. While the reader will sync wirelessly, you can also sync using USB cord, if WiFi isn’t available.
