Tangy 4-Bean Salad & Mold-Free Berries with Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar #HeinzVinegar

Heinz apple cider vinegar

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Heinz Vinegar. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and as a thank you for participating.

I love the tanginess of apple cider vinegar and our family often uses it to sprinkle over our french fries or stir into a big bowl of homemade potato salad. You can be sure that there will always be a bottle or two of Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar or Heinz Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar in my cupboard!

One of my all-time favorite ways to showcase the taste is in a delicious bean salad. Heinz Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar adds a perfect tang to the sweet & sour dressing. This is one dish that will be perfect for warm summer night or a family potluck. For a burst of flavor, I added fresh herbs as well as fresh green beans for a nice crunch.

Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar In the Kitchen

While I do use apple cider vinegar in many recipes, I also know that it’s also a very versatile kitchen tool. You have probably heard that you can make a great fruit fly trap using apple cider vinegar and a few drops of dish soap (it really works!) and I’m sure you’ve probably used apple cider vinegar to clean something greasy (add a few tablespoons to a spray bottle to clean counters, glass and greasy stove tops). But did you know that you can prevent mold from growing on fresh berries with apple cider vinegar? I ran across this tip a few years ago and I am really surprised by how well it works to keep my berries fresh for longer.

Just mix 1 part apple cider vinegar + 10 parts water in a large bowl.

Add berries and swish it around. I let my berries sit for a few minutes and take that time to wash out the container they came in and line it with a thick paper towel.

After I drain the berries, I place them back in their container and they’re ready to go in the fridge. The vinegar doesn’t leave an aftertaste and the berries will last a week or longer without growing that dreaded mold!

This tip has saved me money — berries are not cheap!

I use the fruit & vinegar trick for all of my fruit. It’s a great tip especially for organic fruit that tends to spoil faster.
