Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN to be released March 26, 2013

I am really excited to hear that LINCOLN will be released on Blu-ray Combo Pack, Digital and On-Demand platforms on March 26, 2013 . While I normally don’t do politics at all, I am interested in watching this particular president’s story. Plus, Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field are two of my favorite actors, I cannot wait to see them together in this dramatic and historical film.

Synopsis:

Inspired by the true-life events confronting Abraham Lincoln and his monumental moral and political challenge to amend the United States Constitution to permanently abolish slavery, “LINCOLN” is a rich and compelling historical and human drama that has been hailed as one of the best film of the year. In-depth bonus features on the Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack takes viewers behind-the-scenes of director Spielberg’s life-long fascination with Lincoln and the 12 years it took to bring the story of one of history’s and mankind’s greatest triumphs to the screen.

From DreamWorks Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox, in association with Participant Media, “LINCOLN” is directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy, with a screenplay by Tony Kushner, based in part on the book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln” by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

I hope to see the 4-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack Super Set. This set includes so many interesting bonus features, such as “The Journey To Lincoln” where the filmmakers discuss the challenges of bringing such a complex story accurately to life. In “A Historic Tapestry: Richmond, Virginia”, filmmakers discuss why they chose to shoot the film in Richmond and the location’s historic significance.

“In The Company Of Character” talks about Daniel Day-Lewis’ portrayal of Lincoln and “Crafting The Past” looks at how the design, costume and make-up was authentically recreated. “Living With Lincoln” follows Spielberg, cast and crew through the film’s shooting from the battle of Jenkins’ Ferry through Lincoln’s tragic end and lastly, “In Lincoln’s Footsteps” explores the inspiring musical score created by John Williams along with the film’s editing and sound design.
