This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of NEOSPORIN® ESSENTIALS™. All opinions are 100% mine.
The weather has turned cold and windy out lately. Winter is just about started. Which means, the dry skin has started as well. I hate dry skin. While I’m lucky enough not to suffer with chronically inflamed skin due to eczema, like 35 million other Americans do each year, I am prone to extremely dry sensitive skin, especially on my wrists and the top of my hands.
Dry skin hurts! It also makes my hands look like they belong to a 150 year old. Going from the heated dry inside to the windy freezing outside several times a day makes my hands chap and crack and generally throw a hissy fit.
I’ve been using the New NEOSPORIN® ESSENTIALS™ line of products to see if they can help my painfully dry hands. And so far, I’ve been pleased!
Out of the three products, I have tested, the NEOSPORIN® ESSENTIALS™ Daily Moisturizing Cream is my favorite, so far. This cream soaks right into my skin and leaves a non-greasy barrier against dry skin that’s caused by the weather. I don’t need much, maybe a dime size amount for both of my hands, it spreads well and feels great!
The Daily Body Wash and Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Cream are also very nice to use. You know when you get a super dry spot that is so dry that it itches? Well the Anti-Itch ream truly does help take the painful itch away. The Daily Body Wash gets skin nice and squeaky clean, without removing much needed moisture.
While these products are great for my super dry and annoying skin., they are also made to specifically target eczema and to bring relief to the dry, itchy, red and inflamed skin it can cause around the neck elbows, face and neck areas. Personally, I also suffer from sensitive skin so I really like that all three of these products are fragrance-free. Scented lotions never help my dry skin and always irritate my nose!
Besides using a great product like NEOSPORIN® ESSENTIALS™, you can also follow some basic tips to find relief from eczema and dry skin.
Dr. Peter Lio, M.D. has a few seasonal skin care tips that I think are super helpful:
Winter Skin Care Tips:
Cold and dry weather outside and forced hot air inside can put the skin at high risk for flare ups. The lack of sunlight may result in lower levels of vitamin D which may be related to eczema flare ups in the winter as well.
• Keep the skin warm and protected when outside
• Try a thick, protective moisturizer on the exposed skin to prevent windburn
• Consider talking to your doctor about supplementing vitamin D during the winter months as many people are deficient and this may play a role in eczema
• Consider getting a humidifier for bedrooms to help add moisture to the dry air
• Continue your regular skincare routine with regular bathing and moisturizing, as well as using topical medications when needed
