Dress your face with GlassesUSA.com #review

From that very first visit to the optometrist in Kindergarten, I have had a horrible time picking out the perfect pair of glasses. If you think picking eyeglasses out is easy, you should try doing it while you are basically blind. My eyesight is awful so when I am trying on eyeglass frames, I need to get about an inch away from the mirror to see if they look decent. I suppose I could just back away and squint my eyes while I try to make sense of the blur in front of me! It is not fun either way!

A while back I was contacted by GlassesUSA.com to try out a pair of prescription glasses. My first thought was, “there is no way I will be able to buy glasses online that I will like”. It seriously takes me over an hour to pick out a pair in the store, how will I ever choose a pair without being able to try them on?

Luckily, for crazy people like me, they have a nifty little tool where you can upload your own photo to try on a bunch of different styles. I spent quite a bit of time trying on and adjusting glasses in this tool and found it really useful. I do have to say that I wish the site had actual photos of people wearing the glasses with each style. It would make things a lot easier since it’s sometimes hard to tell how large or small the frames are supposed to be on a face. Give the Try-It Virtual Mirror a whirl and see what you think!

When I finally chose the pair of glasses that I thought  looked the best (Paul Henry 1010 Gunmetal), I headed to the ordering page where I had to make some decisions about lens quality and upgrades. Inputting my prescription information was easy but if you have trouble, you can email a scan of your prescription so they can check for accuracy.

Because my eyesight is so horrible, the value and standard lens options weren’t available to me. I had the option of choosing between the thin & lite ($49) or extra thin & lite ($89). I chose to go with the best quality ones and also received Scratch Resistant Coating, UV Protective Coating and Premium Anti-Reflective Coating with this upgrade (the $15 off next purchase that is now included with this option was not available when I ordered).

I have always wanted to try lenses that automatically change to sunglasses so I also chose to splurge and try out the light adjusting Transition® IV lenses for an additional $119.00. Usually I need to carry around two pairs of glasses (one regular and one prescription sunglasses). I can tell you that it is really annoying having to switch frames all the time just so I can wear sunglasses!

In total, along with the $80 gift certificate I had for my review, I ended up spending an additional $193.95 for options and shipping (pricing has changed a tiny bit since my order). This is still a decent prize since regular non-Transition® frames would cost right around this price at my usual store.

Shipping time was decent, I placed my order on March 19th and received my glasses on April 2nd. When my glasses arrived, I was nervous about how they would look and was completely shocked that they fit my face perfectly! By finding a pair of glasses with similar measurements as my old ones, I didn’t even need to adjust this new pair!

Everything about my new glasses looked good to me, the frames were much better quality than I expected. There was a small nub on the top of one plastic nosepad but it was easily snipped off. The nose pads themselves are a square shape which I thought was strange but they are comfortable.

Those eyeglasses look great on you. I also have a horrible eyesight and had a very hard time picking out the perfect pair of glasses that’s right for the shape of my face. I usually just wear contact lenses and wear glasses when home. I will certainly give the Try-It Virtual Mirror a try, it’s been 2 years since I bought new glasses.

You look so pretty, as always! That’s a lot of money, so I’m thankful I don’t wear glasses for that reason, but I think transition lens are super cool!
