ZeroWater Pitcher Review – Do you know how Clean your water is? {#review}

 Water! It is a basic necessity of life, depending on age, climate and other factors — our bodies may require anywhere from eight to twelve* cups per day! I know I haven’t met my daily requirement in quite some time. You see, our tap water is absolutely awful. Not only does our water taste horrible, it smells. There is no way that I can convince myself to gulp down 8 or more glasses of water a day when it smells and tastes like rotten eggs or wet dog — Ugh! Not only that, I just KNOW that our smelly well water has to be teeming with all sorts of hidden nasties! Because of this, I was excited to try out the ZeroWater filtration pitcher!

We have been buying bottled water by the gallon for years, it is a major pain always having to cart those bottles of water home from the store and it’s no fun to run out of clean drinking water in the middle of the night! Not to mention the expense! On average, we buy at least 6 gallons of water per week, that’s $6.00. Multiply that by four and we are spending at least $24.00 a month on WATER! It’s insane! Water is everywhere yet we have had to settle on buying it to quench our thirst. I don’t want to settle anymore!

ZeroWater’s patented 5-stage water filter system is the only system certified to meet the Food & Drug Administration’s standards for Purified Bottled Water. The ZeroWater 10-Cup filter-pitcher is equipped with a laboratory grade tester to measure your tap water before and after it’s filtered and be assured you are drinking crisp, great tasting water, free of all dissolved solids.

The ZeroWater pitcher uses an Ion exchange filtration system in order to remove the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) such as metals, salts and other elements from your water, leaving behind cleaner, tastier H2O.

ZeroWater pitcher review

In my box, I found a large 10-cup pitcher ZeroWater pitcher, lid, water reservoir, ion exchange filter, TDS Meter and literature. After washing and drying the lid, reservoir and pitcher, I tightly screwed the filter onto the base of the reservoir and filled with cold tap water. The water was surprisingly quick to run through the filter.

So what do I think?

I decided to test out the TDS Meter by first testing a glass of unfiltered tap water, then a glass of the filtered ZeroWater. This was super easy as all I had to do was take the cap off of the TDS meter and stick the end into a glass of water! Our unfiltered water had a reading of 287 {after I took the photo, the reading jumped up a bit more to 300}! Whew, according to the chart, this is a bit higher than average for our region and we may have to replace our filters more often. Then, I tested the ZeroWater and guess what? The meter read 000 — well that’s what it’s supposed to do, so far so good!

ZeroWater TDS test

Now the true test, how does the filtered ZeroWater taste compared to our tap water? Surprisingly, I would never know that both glasses came from the same source! One whiff of our tap water will make you scrunch up your face and say “Ewww, I’m not drinking THAT!” When I sniffed the filtered water, I couldn’t smell a thing — there was no longer an eggy/sulpher smell! And the taste? Completey different! The ZeroWater had a fresh spring water taste without any hint of wet dog. I am still pretty excited about that!

When the kids came home from school, I excitedly made them try this new filtered water and compare it to our tap water — just to make sure I wasn’t imagining things. Nope, I wasn’t, the ZeroWater actually DOES taste and smell 100% better than our unfiltered tap water. Plus, I love how conveniently the pitcher fits onto the top shelf of my refrigerator and how the button-push dispenser removes the need to take the pitcher out when I need a glass of water. I’m happy, maybe we can save that wasted $24 a month for something a little more fun, like the movies or a treat!
