Gabby and the three chicks explore the world!

Friday I let Gabby take her three chicks she hatched out of the brooding cage for the first time. It’s a hot day and they’ve been cooped up for a week, some fresh air will do them good! I was a bit worried about the other banties picking on them, that’s what chickens do, but they’ve been very good about it all.

Here’s a little video of the chickies following Gabby around.

I have sneaking suspicions that this little chick is a rooster. See how he stands up taller than the other two when I come closer? Hens will do that too but I’ve seen it more often in the boys. Only time will tell, for now we’ll just enjoy them.

It looks like Gabby is giving the chicks a lesson on staying close to Mom in this one!
