Fly away Butterfly… Fly away!

Whew! It’s dusty around here, pardon me while I brush away all of these cobwebs! I have to admit that since the kids have been home from school my poor blog has been neglected. It seems there is always another dish to wash, load of laundry to do or grass strewn all over the house from bare feet to sweep up. The chickens, cat, dog, garden, kids and blue skies need my attention and I have been too exhausted to stay up into the wee hours as usual to play bloggy catch up. How about you? Has your schedule been shifted into summer mode? What do you do to find time for yourself? I’ll take any advice I can get at this point!

releasing the butterflies

Any-who, the whole reason I’m here tonight is to show you the gorgeous butterflies we released into the great wide open today. Remember we ordered the caterpillars for Pie’s Butterfly House? I’m happy to say all five of the little buggers survived and transformed into beautiful Painted Lady butterflies! It all seemed to go by so quickly! After reading that their life span lasts for only two weeks or so we decided they should be able to enjoy the fresh air instead of staying cooped up inside our house. We absolutely LOVED this experience and are already planning on sending away for more caterpillars next week! We’ll populate the whole backyard with fluttery wings before summer’s over! I can’t pick just one pic so here’s 5 more! (Pie took the first, third and forth ones, she has a great perspective!) Oh, and excuse my unkempt nails… I’m a country girl!

How amazing! Absolutely beautiful. I am glad this is the first site I see the morning. I just got off of the phone with my mother after more than an hour of a bad connection and viewing the butterfly pictures totally returned me to happy relaxation. I have to get one of those kits for my kids. Well, I'll have to get two kits. One for the three youngsters and one for the older. :-) Thanks for sharing.

Oh, and don't worry about the cobwebs… enjoy your summer.
